Ladies, this is a blog specifically for you. I’m not sure the guys would understand. (I know… I know… I risk being called sexist for that comment, but here goes anyway!)

It has come to my attention that every woman needs a pair of red shoes. Preferably heels! Something about red shoes says, “I am confident and I can rock this event!” (Or job, or class…you get the idea).

The reason I take this stand is that every time I wear my red shoes, people break their neck to tell me they like my red shoes. Notice they don’t say, “Susan, you look nice today.” Or even, “Susan, I like your shoes!” They will consistently say, “I like those red shoes!” Just this past Sunday, I had on my red shoes and out of the blue down the hallway of the church, a friend hollered out, “Susan, I like those red shoes.” Recently at an Assisted Living facility where I dressed up for Halloween in a red flapper dress complete with feather in my hair, (got a visual yet?) all I heard was, “I like those red shoes.” Really, a red feather in my hair and you tell me you like my shoes????? Rarely, do I wear them and not have a comment. So you can see the only logical conclusion is that every woman needs a pair of red shoes. Preferably heels! AND may I add, if you can throw in some animal print on those red shoes, you could really rock the world! (Yes, I have a pair like this too!)

I asked my husband Sunday why he thought I had so many compliments each time I wore my red shoes his reply was, “Uh, I don’t know. I like them. They look good on you.” Bless him! While I was contemplating this and other important issues such as how in the world I would get the Christmas presents wrapped before our family Christmas next weekend, my thoughts did go to that familiar Christmas song, “Christmas Shoes.” You have probably heard it and used up a box of Kleenex each time you hear it. The lyrics go like this:

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please

It’s Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size

Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there’s not much time

You see she’s been sick for quite a while

and I know these shoes would make her smile

and I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

Ladies, ask for a pair of red shoes this Christmas. Or buy them for yourself. I’m sure Jesus won’t care about our shoes or even what color they are, but until we do meet Him, let’s look beautiful for everyone else in our red shoes. Preferably heels!
