Hospice

Why us?

Shepherd’s Cove staff go the extra mile for our patients and families every day. Whether it is providing physical relief from pain, teaching caregivers what to expect and how to care for their loved one, fulfilling last wishes, or helping patients and families celebrate special moments of life, we simply want to make every day the very best it can be.

We’re available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to help meet the unique needs of each individual patient.

Levels of care

Shepherd’s Cove offers five levels of care to anyone facing a life-limiting illness.

  1. Routine care – Routine care is provided inside your home or long-term care facility. This allows you to stay in your home while we coordinate care based on a care plan designed to meet your personal goals. Shepherd’s Cove coordinates and provides medications, equipment, and treatments related to the patient’s hospice diagnosis and provides medical exams in the home, meaning fewer doctor and hospital visits and less stress for caregivers.
  2. Respite Care – Shepherd’s Cove Hospice patients can stay in the inpatient unit in Albertville for up to five days to provide relief for caregivers.
  3. General Inpatient Care – This is an intensive, short-term level of care provided at the Shepherd’s Cove Inpatient Unit. GIP care provides a more intense level of care to patients with symptoms that cannot be managed in the home or who need a higher level of monitoring. Once the patient’s symptoms are under control, he or she will return to their home or permanent living facility under routine care.
